UGC recognises SMS Varanasi in Sections 12(B) & 2(f)

SMS Varanasi has been been recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956 under the head Non-Government Self-Financed institution. This section provides an opportunity to the institution to receive central assistance for all the UGC Schemes related to teachers and students as per the commission of 8th July, 2011. SMS has been placed in this list on basis of its association with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University (MGKVP), Varanasi and consistent efforts by SMS Varanasi in the area academic excellence.

This is also worth mentioning that SMS Varanasi is already placed under Section 2(f) of UGC Act.

Innovation and Leadership Award 2013 to SMS Varanasi

SMS Varanasi has been recognized and awarded at World HRD Congress by "DNA & Stars of Industry Group- Innovation and Leadership Award 2013" on 16th Feb, 2013. The award is in recognition of leadership development, innovation and industry interface of SMS Varanasi team. The award has been earned for the second time by School of Management Sciences on account of hard work and consistent efforts by faculty, staff and management team of SMS, Varanasi in the areas of student development and innovative thought processes.

Full Accreditation to SMS Varanasi by IAO

The IAO(International Accreditation Organization), USA accreditation committee has provided “Full Accreditation” to School of Management Sciences” in the light of its overall contributions to academics, research, consulting, MDPs, EDPs, FDPs and splendid Placement Track Record and the various evidences provided by SMS Group and their overall process compliance of International Accreditation Organization.

The accreditation process was initiated with the process of application followed by submission of the required information and other annexures required for the accreditation process. The Chapter President has visited the campuses on several occassions and submitted his detailed review, report and recommendations along with recommendations of various other members of the accreditation committtee for awarding Full Accreditation to School of Management Sciences.

Two journals from SMS Varanasi accepted for hosting on OJAS of INFLIBNET

Two journals from the SMS Varanasi cradle: Management Insight (Established: 2004; ISSN 0973-936X) and Purushartha (Established: 2008; ISSN 0975 024X) have been accepted for hosting on the OJAS (Open Journal Access System) platform of ‘Information & Library Network (INFLIBNET)’ Centre, an autonomous inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is one of the rarest achievements in terms of the intellectual capital of the Institution. Out of the eleven journals making it to the final stage from the country, two happen to be from SMS Varanasi.

Innovation & Outstanding B-School Awards for SMS Group

Complementing the fast track movements of the SMS Group of Institutions (SMSGI) in various endeavors of professional education, teaching, placements, industry-interface, inculcating philanthropic culture etc., the DNA and Stars of the Industry Group has conferred the “Innovation in Building Academic & Industry Interface” to SMSGI and the Awards were presented at a Special function at Taj Lands in Mumbai on February 12, 2011 The award is in recognition of leadership, development, innovation and industry interface of SMSGI. The Group constitutes of School of Management Sciences (SMS) in Varanasi and Lucknow in addition to SMS Institute of Technology in Lucknow.

SMS bagged three Prestigious Awards in World HRD Congress Summit

SMS, Varanasi received three prestigious awards, viz., ‘Innovations in Building Academic and Industry Interface’, ‘Outstanding B-School in Marketing (North)’, and ‘Best B-School in Business School Leadership’ at the 12th World Human Resource Development Congress in Mumbai. Other prominent competitors in these award categories included IIM-Ahmedabad, IMT-Ghaziabad and IIT-Mumbai.

SMS won the AIMA Management Quiz

Students of SMS Varanasi, Mr.Naveen Kumar and Mr. Vikas Kumar won the final round of the 6th National Management Quiz (Eastern Zone) organized by All India Management Association. The quiz was organised in two stages, where final stage has six round covering specific subjects.

Gold Medal to SMS Undergraduate Students

SMS Undergraduate students had again proved their strength by attaining Gold medals in various graduate level programmes affliated with Purvanchal University. Pallavi thacker has grabbed gold medal, as she topped in BBA Programme and Neha Jain followed the momentum by gaining gold medal in BCA Programme. It is needless to mention that both the students have topped in entire Purvanchal University for the above mentioned programmes.

SMS Group gets Pride of Industry Award

SMS Group of Institutions received the "Pride of Industry Award" in the launching ceremony of the World Brand Congress Brochure 2009 and the book titled "Building Pride" at Mumbai.

SMS conferred with two awards

SMS, Varanasi received two prestigious awards, ‘Outstanding Business School (North)’ and ‘Innovative Business School in Academic-Interface’ at the 4th world HRD congress held in Mumbai, organised by leading media house Dainik Bhaskar and DNA. The participants of the award ceremony included corporate leaders, internationally acclaimed professionals and representatives of over 2000 B-Schools of the country.

Honour for SMS

SMS Varanasi was awarded as the best B-School in three categories at the 16th Business School Affaire organized at the 17th Asian Brand Summit held in Mumbai. The award categories included ‘Best Business School for Encouraging Innovations’, ‘Business School Leadership Award’, and ‘Best Academic Input (Syllabus) in Marketing'. Over 1000 B-schools of the country participated in the summit.
