Workshop on PR Skill Development & Corporate Communication

Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Skill Development, a centre of excellence at School of Management Sciences, Varanasi and Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) jointly organized a one day workshop On PR Skill Development & Corporate Communication on 7th February 2019. An initiative of SMS IQAC, this workshop was an endeavour to develop the skill of creating and enhancing public relations among the students of MBA. The event was presided over by mavens of managing public relations Shri. Amitabh Bhattacharya, National Executive Council Member PRSI, Shri Narendra Mehta, Vice-President (North), PRSI, Shri Vishal Arora Unit Head Amar Ujala, Varanasi and Shri Pradeep Upadhyay, National Executive Council Member, PRSI.
The workshop began with lightening of the lamp and prayers to Maa Saraswati. Prof. P.N. Jha, Director School of Management Sciences, Varanasi welcomed the guest and laid the foundation for the workshop. Prof. Jha emphasized on the media responsibility towards delivering the factual and accurate information and suggested that the PR people must ensure that fabricated and false information should not be circulated among the public and should strive towards building trustworthy and credible public relations in the country. Later, Shri Pradeep Upadhyay, National Executive Council Member-PRSI, introduced the students to the historical background and functions of Public Relations Society of India. He also discussed what are the other events which are going to be organised by the PRSI as an organisation. Further in the workshop Shri Vishal Arora, Unit Head Amar Ujala, Varanasi addressed the forum and advised the students to be open to change, and criticism. Mr. Arora further added that patience, positive approach with a smiling face & empathy is necessary for PR Personnel. Continuing with the deliberation Shri Narendra Mehta, Vice-President (North), PRSI engaged students into a meaningful dialogue offering them practical insights about the profession and practices pertaining to public relations in Indian corporate sector. Shri.Mehta emphazised on the development of necessary skills like listening, objectiveness, observance, communication, feedback, etc among students with respect to PR & Corporate Communication. He also discussed about the various other programs that will be organised by PRSI in future.
