The top names who boast of an MBA degree!

MBA program remains the top favorite of graduates in India. Not only is it the primary aim of these students towards attainment of a good job but also an opportunity towards social transformation through their innovative ideas.   • The Times of India survey states the tally of MBA directors at 26%.
  • Similarly, an analysis by the Mint pegs the number of MBA CEO’s in top companies of the country at 144.
  • Although not all of them carried the degree (22%) but those who have been there (and done that) know the business framework and the results are all positive.
  • The indian Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector employs 34% directors with an MBA degree. Retail sector employs 38% management graduates, indicating an inherent preference for MBAs on the board but Hospitality sector was home to just 14% MBAs.
  • Overall the Banking and Financial services Institutions (BFSI) remains the top employers of the past year for these management degree holders.
MBAs creating a flutter: Consumers have become intelligent in terms of choice and preference and this leads to reduced brand loyalty. This means that the scope of an MBA program increases day by day. It seems the day is not far when MBA will be the essential qualification for a top executive. The Indians who carry MBA degree have made a mark worldwide with their acumen. Their hold in teaching, managing and investment banking is commendable. Those who made a difference: The list includes both Indian and foreign MBA degree holders who are making all the difference in business (a few of them have long left for heavenly abode but their mention remains indispensable).

  5. Satya Nadella the Microsoft’s third chief executive officer and Adi Godrej, chairman of the Godrej Group are alumnus of the prestigious Sloan School of Management.
  6. Late Narinder Patni, the pioneer of the Indian software outsourcing industry and founder of Patni Computer Systems too was an MBA from Sloan School of Management. The Infosys idea germinated from the Patni turf itself.
  7. Anil Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Group, Ambani too is an MBA from Wharton of 1983 batch and the premier recipient of Wharton Indian Alumni Award.
  8. Ratan Tata, the chairman of the company since 1991. He is the awardee of top honors like: Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and Lifetime Achievement Award of the Rockefeller Foundation. An alumni of the Harvard Business School, Tata is famous for his philanthropy ventures as well.
  9. Rahul Bajaj of the Bajaj Group was graduate in economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University and an MBA from Harvard Business School as well. He managed to put India on the road to self sufficiency with his innovations in transportation services.
  10. Ashish Hemrajani, the young CEO of Bigtree Entertainment, had done MBA from the Mumbai University and went on to change the way people consume entertainment in the nation. His rival, Neeraj Roy, the founder CEO of the Hungama Digital Media Entertainment is an MBA from Sydenham Institute of Management Studies. He is rated amongst the top achiever of his time.

Quasar Media was also the brainchild of Singh which emerged as among the best digital marketing agencies of the country.
  15. Nitin Paranjpe, CEO Hindustan Unilever, received his engineering degree in mechanics and MBA from Jamnabai BIMS, Mumbai and received India’s best CEO award by Forbes. Actor John Abraham, too completed his MBA program from this Institution.
  16. Shantanu Narayen, joined Adobe in 1998 as the vice president of product research became its COO and later, CEO in 2007. He holds a Bachelor in Science degree from Osmania University and is an MBA from the University of California, Narayen also held product development role at Silicon Graphics before founding photo sharing startup: Pictra. He was named as the worlds best CEOs by the Barron MAgazine in year 2016.
  17. G. Kurian became CEO of storage management company: NetApp in 2015. His diverse background includes the roles of vice president at Akamai Technologies, McKinsey & Company and Oracle Corporation. Ashok Vemuri, CEO, Conduent Inc: Xeroxs business service. An Infosys veteran, Vemuri became CEO of igate and later when Xerox corporation split into separate entities, its CEO. His vision is leading the centenary organization towards new portfolios and expansion strategies.
  18. Naveen Jindal the youngest child of Om Prakash Jindal and member of the Jindal industry, studied Bachelors in Commerce from the renowned Hans Raj College of the Delhi University and his MBA from the University of Texas, Dallas. He received the Student Leader of the Year Award during his student days and later the University of Texas renamed its MBA wing as the Naveen Jindal School of Management.
  19. Pepsico head: Indira Nooyi was a Bachelors in Non-Medical from University of Madras and management graduate from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She was given the opportunity to Yale School of Management which later gave her entry to the management firm: Boston Consulting Group and then held key position at Motorola before jumping in the Pepsi bandwagon.
  20. Manvinder Singh Banga (Vindi Banga) is the Indian partner of the equity fund major: Clayton Dubilier & Rice. A graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in Mechanical Engineering and Master in business administration from Indian Institute of Management, he remained among the top brass of Unilever for three decades. He also served as the chairman of Hindustan Lever Ltd. (Its Indian subsidiary). Banga is also the non executive director of Glaxosmithkline, Reuters and Marks & Spencers. He was presented with the Padma Bhushan award in 2010.
