AFTER BBA JOB: AIRPORT MANAGER/ ASSISTANT AIRPORT MANAGER

If you want to pursue a career in airport management as an airport manager or an assistant airport manager then you need to know more about the course first. If you want to do BBA for achieving your goal then you should get a Bachelor’s degree in aviation or airport management. Both of these are three-year BBA courses that will lead you to your goal to become an airport manager or an assistant airport manager.

Airport Management 

An airport manager working for a big international airport or a small municipal airport has the same job duties and valuation. The job of the airport manager is to ensure the safe and perfect operation of the airport regularly. He also needs to make sure to keep enough supporting staff and check whether they are providing humble prompt and information to the travelers about the airport policies and procedures. He ensures that the flight takes off from the airport at the scheduled time and keeps adequate staff for the ticketing and security systems so that there’s no inconvenience to the passenger and also troubleshooting any kind of problem at the airport.

Position description

The airport manager works closely with union and state aviation committees and departments. They generate rules and regulations for all aspects of airport business and security. The airport manager must check that all aspects of the airport are operating within these regulations or he or she must take the important actions to bring them into submission. It can mean directly working with airport employees or businesses that make tariff space in the airport terminal. Sometimes the airport manager may also have to work with aviation and shuttle services that are out of submission with airport policy.

Apart from private airlines, some airports are owned by municipalities, states, counties, and cities.

The assistant airport manager helps the manager carry out administrative responsibilities. The assistant may be in charge of taking care of employees, airport equipment, airport tenant relations, or any type of work associated with an airport.

Working conditions

The working environment varies largely depending upon the size of the airport. In big airports, the assistant manager functions in an office which is usually in the terminal building, and may take on a more important role. Assistants participate in short or long-range planning in several fields.

Working hours are regular except in times of emergencies. Travel time may be required to negotiate leases with airline employees or to confer with state and federal officials.

Typical requirements and experience

Depending upon the area and strength of the airport, requirements for the job of an assistant manager vary.

Large metropolitan airports require 4 to 7 years of prior experience at airports served by maximum airlines. Assistant managers must have excellent oral and written communication, problem-solving skills, knowledge, and compliance with federal/state/local aviation regulations, laws, and guidelines is also required. Normally the airport management experience gives equivalent knowledge.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree from a Good college or university with major course work in business, airport, or aviation management.

It is ideal to do a bachelor’s degree with the subjects aerodynamics, physics, aviation sciences, economics, finance, and management.
