The Role of Management Subject

You start your professional study about Management in the course of BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration). It teaches you how to work for an enterprise or how to work under a business administration or organization. Management is the most important subject in the BBA. It acts as the backbone of the course in the first year. 

If you are interested in studying the management subject then you can join the course of BBA and then pursue an MBA. 

If I ask you what is an administration all about? You’ll probably say an organization or an enterprise, something like that, right? But how you work in an enterprise or organization, is what management subject is all about.

The word management can be defined as how we manage stuff and that’s what management subject teaches us. It plays an important role if you are thinking of pursuing a career towards business, or some organization.

Nowadays, every field requires managers, chief executives, CEO, etc., but to attain the perfect knowledge of managing, directing others, cooperating, coordinating with your fellow team members, staffing, organizing, analyzing, etc., you need to learn management.

Management is a very important subject for BBA students as it teaches you how to work in an organization or a business enterprise.

Is management a scoring subject?

If you ask me, then yes, management is a scoring subject in which you can easily score well if you concentrate. Well, every subject requires concentration but management is very interesting to concentrate and learn. I’ve summarised the way to secure good marks in management subjects. Please read:

1. Study the chapters

2. Understand the concept

3. Only learn the points under each topic

I asked you to learn the points of every topic and not the content, as management is such an easy subject that you can build the concept under those topics yourself.

Let’s discuss an example, suppose there is a question and the answer to it, contains a point of organizing. Now you can imagine what you can write under organizing, how creative you can be by expressing your ideas in a way of examples to make others understand the concept.

Now a question arises, what do we get to understand from this subject?

Management is a subject that will help you in managing stuff when you will be working under an organization, or would be establishing your business enterprise.

Management sounds like an easy word but it’s one of the most difficult jobs to do. The management subject teaches us how to cooperate and coordinate with our team. Don’t get confused between coordination and cooperation, both have different meanings. Cooperation means that you are adjusting with someone and coordination is that you are communicating with the whole team about how they have to move forward. Management teaches us both coordination and cooperation as these two terms are very necessary for a business organization.

If you won’t cooperate with your fellow team members then you can get fired and if you won’t coordinate with your team that what you are planning to do next then you can lose your job. So coordinating and incorporating are the two very necessary terms you should be aware of when working for an enterprise, or business organization or under some administration.

Management subject also helps us gain knowledge regarding staffing, i.e. how you manage yourself with the other staff. Staffing is one of the important features that one should have when working for an enterprise or business organization. Staffing is the way you coordinate and cooperate with your fellow team partners and also how you manage with your boss and seniors, your juniors, and your co-workers. One should have a friendly environment with his or her team members so that everyone will work together for the welfare of the company you’re working for.

Another important feature is “organizing”. One should know how to organize and handle stuff in a manner that would not cause any loss to the company. Your every step should take you towards success and it will also help for the betterment of the company. Studying management prepares you to become a good manager as every field requires that one person who could manage, organize, maintain decorum with the staffing members, collect data as per the requirement, and could corporate and coordinate between the workers of the organization.

Qualities of a manager

I’ve mentioned below some qualities that should be present in a person to become a good manager:

  • Positive Attitude

A manager should always have a positive attitude. Having a positive attitude will help you remain calm in hard times and find solutions to the problems without causing any big loss to the company. A positive attitude can help you come up with new ideas and can also help you get promotions, as who doesn’t like a boss with good vibes?

  • A good listener

A manager should be a good listener. Suppose one of your team members needs to talk to someone to share his problems with, then you can give him support by listening to what he wants to share. This helps you build trust among your colleagues. They will respect you and your work. Not only this, suppose there’s a project and you have got a team to work on it and make it as profitable as it can be and one of your team members has an outstanding plan, then you should give him a chance to present his plan and listen to it carefully. This is how a good manager works. 

  • Coordination and Cooperation

As I have mentioned above that cooperation and coordination are the key features of management, a manager should know how to cooperate with his fellow team members and maintain coordination so that everyone could work on the same agenda to reach the goal.

  • Staffing

Staffing is a very important quality to become a good manager. A manager should know how to maintain a decorum in the organization. He should coordinate with his boss and seniors in such a way that they feel respected. A manager should have proper knowledge of the assigned work so that he could give correct explanations and advice to his team. Good communication among the team is very important. If you make your team members feel comfortable in talking to you, then it’s a very good quality of yours. Through proper communication, coordination builds up which makes all the workers of the organization work for a common goal to make more profits for the company.

  • Organizing

Organizing everything properly is a very essential quality of a good manager. He should be aware of the things going around him so that there will be a proper organization of everything. He should know that if he isn’t organized himself then he can’t expect his staff to be organized either. Many things can help you be organized like a timetable or schedule and there are some apps for the smartphone that can also help you in management.

So, we discussed the role of management. Now you know how important it is to manage everything to become a good manager as his job is to manage things properly. Management is a crucial subject if you are interested in business and administration as management takes into account the directing and controlling functions of an organization.
