After BCA: Job or MCA?

BCA or Bachelors in Computer Application is a computer-centric course. Computer languages like JAVA, C/C++ are taught during this 3-year professional degree course. After doing BCA a student can pursue various fields of specialization like Hardware, Networking, System Admin, Software Developer, Software programmer, Software tester, Web Programmer and so on. To get a good job immediately after BCA, a student must have supplemented his course of study with various others diploma or short-term courses. These other courses include learning computer languages that have not been taught to him in his college like MCSE, CAN, CCNP, N+, DOTNET, JAVA J2EE, VB among others.  He could have also tried his hand in Tester courses, Multimedia and Animation courses, and Web Programmer courses like JAVA SCRIPT, VBScript, Flash, ASP and JSP.  If the student has learned one or two computer languages thoroughly and has core knowledge of data structure and algorithms, he might get placed in a good company. Many service sector companies seek to hire BCA graduates, as a BCA degree is often seen on par with a B. Tech degree. These service sector companies include WIPRO, TCS, and Cognizant. If the student is well versed in his knowledge and has even interned in IT companies or received training from any of these companies, he may get a job at a product sector company. The employability of the student definitely increases with the courses he did which could be both, technical and non-technical. Many students, however, prefer to do their MCA or Master in Computer Applications after completing their BCA.  Doing an MCA drastically improves the employability of the student. Several new avenues are open to him after doing an MCA. MCA teaches students database management system, statistics, mathematics, business data processing, system analysis, building, planning, and designing complex commercial software on a level more advanced than that of BCA.  At the end of MCA, a student can choose to specialize in a specific field. The field in which he chooses to specialize depends upon his interest and knowledge. It is often recommended that students pursue MCA or any other field of higher education after completing their graduation. This could include MBA, MIM or MCM. Continuing with their education especially coupled with some kind of training where they can gather experience in their preferred field will definitely open up a lot more options for the individual than what a simple BCA could.
