BBA, BCA and B.COM Orientation at SMS Varanasi

The core values with which our university established was, traditional values and Nationalism. Being part of university the students must follow the traditional values and work in national interest. Prof. Prithvish Nag, Vice-Chancellor of MGKVP urged the students, in his inaugural speech on the occasion of two-day orientation programme for the Under Graduate courses BBA, BCA and B.Com. at the Khushipur campus of School of Management Sciences (SMS), Varanasi started on Thursday. Inaugurating the 21st batch of BBA, 20st batch of BCA and 4th batch of B. Com., all the three year full time programmes affiliated to MGKVP, the Vice Chancellor Prof P. Nag congratulated the students for joining the MGKVP professional programmes at SMS, Varanasi. Further he exhorted the students to become a global, useful and loyal citizen of the country. He also urged the new students to be knowledgeable and competitive to scale heights.

On this inaugural Programme, three distinguished academic luminaries Prof K. K. Agarwal (Head Dept. of MGKVP) Prof K. S. Jaiswal (Director-Institute of Management Studies, MGKVP) and Prof. Satya Singh (Dean-Faculty of Science & Technology, MGKVP) also blessed the new comers of these three UG programmes. Prof. Satya Singh highlighted the inter-disciplinary nature of curriculum and informed the students that this is common and updated syllabus taught in different universities of Uttar Pradesh. She further advised students to work on time management and hard work.

Guest of Honor, Prof. K. K Agarwal also congratulated students for taking admission in one of the best college of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, having best library, Lab and other infrastructure. Further, he advised students to utilize the resources available, to become more competent. He also emphasized on the importance of discipline, dedication and determination for students.

Another Guest of Honor Prof. K. S. Jaiswal quoted the current incidents and urged students to inculcate Human Values. He suggested that these traditional and Human Values are far more important than getting good marks. Further as a chairperson of IQAC of University, he also wished good luck to SMS Varanasi for their coming NAAC Accreditation.

Earlier, the Director of SMS Varanasi, Prof. P. N. Jha welcomed the dignitaries to the campus and presented a brief description of the fast pace of Institutions growth in the post liberalization era. He outlined how in just two decades the Institute scaled heights in multiple dimensions which made it proudly enter into the elite top-50 Business Schools in India last year. The Institution provides not only contemporary teaching with a creative pedagogical mix but also enhances Professionalism, Socialism and Humanism in the students, added Prof. Jha. The 400+ addition in UG programmes is a testimony for the fact, stressed the Director.

The Dean (R&D), SMS Varanasi Prof. Alok Kumar presented the highlights of the UG programmes at the Institute. He said that SMS Varanasi happens to be the pioneer in the entire region to start the BBA and BCA programmes with University affiliation 20 years back even when University did not run these programmes in its campus (earlier the affiliation was with VBS Purvanchal University). The strong academic inputs coupled with corporate orientation had made the SMS students occupy more than 50% space in the top-10 merit list every year since inception. He added that the Institution has started the placement activity for the UG programmes too a couple of years back. From this year, the corporate exposition would be enhanced for these students. The Programme was conducted by Dr. (Mrs.) Pallavi Pathak while the Vote of thanks was proposed by the Dean (DSA), SMS, Prof. Sandeep Singh. Dr. Avinash Chandra Supkar presented the preamble of the institute.

On this inaugural sessions Executive Secretary SMS Society Dr. M.P. Singh, Registrar Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Course Coordinator Mr. Amitabh Pandey (B.Com) , Mr. Anand Dube (BCA), Mr. Atish Khadse (BBA), Prof. R.K Singh, Prof. Kamalsheel Mishra, Dr. Anupam Shukla were also present.
