How to Prepare For an Interview?

Interview?  First time? No need worry., a well designed preparation for interview to crack successfully can be helpful. First of all you have to understand what the motto on interview is.

First thing comes into the mind about interview is getting a job but interviewer’s see your another side of story which you never heard by yourself.

Why a company needed to hire someone for specific post? It’s very simple, an organization have a desire to be filled so that problem can be solve. They have a priority for those who has a fire to solve the problem of company by their solutions, so best meet their needs.

Therefore, You need to think like the interviewer’s side like what should be a great aspects of a candidate, and  make him believe you are the best candidate for his organization.

Know your enemy and yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles and be victorious in all of them. point is perfectly  applicable for interviews, and you may apply it in the following way to help you target your preparation.

 Research:

You need to find out your enemy part by doing research.

Find out all the details of company, the industry and the interviewers, if you don’t know about them than try to know every single points.

Based on the above knowledge, you should be able to answer the following questions
  • What kind of problems, company is facing? And How I can give solutions to them?
  • How is the corporate culture of company? What kinds of people are best fit for that culture?
  • What kind of professionals they are looking? Are they specific?
  • What are the backgrounds of the interviewers? And knowing the background, what type of questions they can ask?
  • etc.

Refresh:

Make yourself refresh as this is your part.

Remind all your drawbacks and experiences, separate them and determine which part is relevant for interview. Cross check your direct and indirect approach, and share with interviewer accordingly when needed. It is a game of intellectual mind .

List them out and categorize them by applicability. And answer the question, why are they applicable.

Synthesize:

Collect the raw data for interview from where you can collect but sources should be authentic and you should take it one step further to synthesize them together into the interview format, i.e. answering questions.

In front of interviewer When you are answering the questions, always keep in mind that each answer shows your selling skill, i.e. not just providing the facts, but always tie back to how it is relevant. Following interview questions that youll be expected to answer - practice them with the approach of selling of yourself:

Tell me about yourself: When you are asked about yourself it means interviewer wants to gain information that is pertinent to the job.

Whats your biggest strength: When such a question comes to you, its seem like very easy but it’s a very important points about your personality. The interviewer just wants to know if your strengths with the requirements of the company and the qualifications for the job for which you are applying.

Whats your biggest weakness: Turn your negative points into positive aspects.  Recheck your work again and again not shows you doubt on yourself but you want to deliver your work perfectly. The fact is, you have overcome that weakness, and Now  you can do it for the company very well.

Why should we hire you? Inverted questions are what makes you best fit for this position? No need to answer beyond the questions just look around how you can be fit in the organization, in shorts sale yourself.

Tell me when you encounter a problem, what did you do? Such a behavioral questions. Company wants to see how you handle a situations which you were not expecting, so make it relevant to the organization as much as you can close .

Practice:

Preparation is very important before to go for interview. Know your interview process if you are going there first time. Practice answering interview questions if you are expected about what they can ask. Use flashcards and practice it. Record your answer on phone and listen it how you are answering. Do you fumbling or not? If yes go ahead and try your best . How are your posture and eye contact? Are you fidgeting? Are your answers too long-winded? Do you sound confident? If you do not have a video camera or tape recorder, practice in front of the mirror.
