What are The Career Options After 12th Commerce

Every student goes through the phase where they have to choose their career path, one such moment comes in every students life after class 12th exams, there is a constant confusion and stress while choosing a field of ones interest. This field basically deals with financial assistance (Money). ELIGIBILITY

The next big question after completing 12th is, are you eligible for the course you want to apply to. After completing 12th, you have to start thinking about your further education, by choosing UG or Integrated UG courses like five years integrated BBA + MBA. To apply for admissions in UG courses, you must have completed the 12th or equivalent exam with commerce subjects from any recognized board with decent marks.

ADMISSION PROCESS

All colleges offer admissions to students in B.COM on the basis of merit. The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained in 12th or equivalent exam. Some other colleges and universities provide admissions to students in BBA through national, state or university level entrance exams.   • BACHELORS OF COMMERCE (B.COM)

This is the general degree that spans over a period of 3 years that you can pursue after completing your 12th with commerce. This is a good degree for a student who didn’t have commerce with maths. A normal B.com degree proves quite handy even if you are pursuing any of the professional courses. It is always advised that you complete your graduation and then go for higher education like MBA. You can take it as a full-time course or a correspondence course depending on your choice. It is beneficial for students to take it as a correspondence course if they are pursuing any professional course like CA or CS.
  • BACHELORS OF COMMERCE (HONOURS) or B.COM (HONS)

This is a similar course to B.com but it is in a more extensive form with specialization in a particular subject or field like Accountancy, management or economics etc. The industry demand for B.com (Honours) is somewhat better than normal B.com.However,the admission criteria and eligibility conditions are similar for both. But B.com (Hons) hold more weight and better career options. B.com (Hons) has a more analytical and in-depth study than compared to B.com, the syllabus and subjects vary too.
  • BACHELORS OF ECONOMICS

This is another good option for commerce students to pursue their higher secondary education. It will give them a lot of experience, practical knowledge on various economic concepts, economic policies, analytical methods, and programs. If you are keenly interested in economics and want to gain specialization about the economic framework, this might suit you. This may also be a good opportunity to bring awareness about various governmental policies. It is a good option for IAS aspirants as this will help them by giving them a background of economics.
  • BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION BBA

This is a 3-year Business administration course helping you to build a base in core business disciplines. You get to explore different functional areas of a business environment.   • CHARTERED ACCOUNTANCY (CA)

The best professional course for building a successful career in commerce is CA.Becoming a Chartered Accountant opens various doors to exciting career opportunities in diversified sectors like Tax Consultant, an auditor, an advisor, a financial officer and so on depending on your choice of subject. you can be an independent practitioner or you can settle for a corporate job. But this is a very competitive and difficult course and you should be highly motivated in case you want a future in it. But It might be easy for the students to perform well in the entrance to clear the initial level.But, the higher level you reach i.e. Intermediate (IPCC) and CA Finals, the tougher it gets. So, complete determination followed by consistent efforts are the keys to success. The new curriculum has been launched for CA Course wherein you need to do Foundation, Intermediate and Final levels. This professional course is provided by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).Its Head office is in New Delhi, branches are located all over India. The average salary of a CA of the company is around the 5 lakh to 10 lakh per annum. Some of the tycoon companies offer more than 10 lakh per annum to the company CA.
  • COMPANY SECRETARY (CS)

This is another great professional course that is opted by students after 12th with commerce. This course is provided by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India. A Company Secretary is basically responsible for all the regulatory compliances of the company and acts as an in-house legal expert. After doing CS also you have an option whether you want to practice independently or look in for a job in the corporate world. This is also a common option for students doing CA as the combination both CA and CS would build a good career option for the student.
  • COST AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (CMA)

This is another common course pursued by students, this course is provided by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India or ICWAI. A Certified Cost Accountants maintains cost accounting records, do cost auditing, helps in planning, controlling and costing of products. Again this gives you an option to practice as an independent CMA or hold managerial positions in public as well as private enterprises.The role of Cost Accountant goes beyond that of Financial Accountant by helping in production operations and processes. You can choose the cost audit area, certification, and consulting areas.  
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP)

This can be a great option for people who are interested in building a career in areas of Personal finance, wealth management, insurance planning, mutual fund investing. So, if you want to enter the financial planning world, then you need to get this certification as a Certified Financial Planner or CFP. The Financial Planning Standard Board India or FPSB India is the principal licensing body that grants CFP license to practitioners.
  • BACHELOR OF LAW (LLB)

LLB is also a common degree that students pursue after their 12th standard. You might already know what are the duties of a “lawyer” or an “advocate”. The Bar Council of India (BCI) is known to be the main regulatory body of Law Education in India. BCI provides a certificate of practice after completion of LLB. In order to practice you need to clear the All India Bar Examination. If you wish to do the integrated course, you can take the admission in a 5 year integrated programme after the completion of your 12th standard exams.
