Is Social Media a distraction from studies these days?
Studies, Education, concepts, theories, etc. is what these days students are ignoring. Let’s start from the beginning. Why do we have to study? What actually studies mean? Studies is all about being aware of something you are working upon, or understanding its concepts so that you could bring improvement in it. Education is an amazing field in which these days kids are lacking behind. And so the question rises, why? And the one and only answer to the very question is – (centre stage light with background music of drum rolls please) SOCIAL MEDIAAAA!!!! The enemy of all the parents. The “BADSHAH” of distraction. (Time for monster laugh- huahahah). Yes, it’s true. These days, social media has become the major distraction from studies, and I am not saying that social media’s have no positive side bboooo, no way, it does have many great uses which these days kids are not using and instead using them in a way that they get distracted from studies. The basic question that exists in every 90’s kid’s parents mind is, “What is the big deal with social sites? Do they give you free candy? What is so attractive in them that they pull you for like 10hrs. (ok I think I said less) in a day? What magic or what craze do you have for them, that before you go to sleep, you check your phone, and the minute you wake up the first thing you find is your phone?” And then comes the drama, “will this make your career? Every time tick tick tick tick on the phone!” But at the end they are right, cause you admit it right now or not, but it is a distraction for us all. Ever supposed, when you got an assignment to do and you need to submit it by tomorrow but then all of a sudden you be like, “oh crap, my head hurts, I should get some sleep” But after sometime, you hear a Ping! in your cell phone and go running towards your phone to check the notification bar, one hour has been passed and you finally realised, that you could have completed your assignment up till now, and so the melodrama begins… But the question is still not solved, what is the magic in it that drives us crazy? What is so special in these applications or sites that people go crazy like waka waka (ok, I just added that waka waka thing). Anyways getting off the topic. So, what’s the special ingredients of social sites? Well, social sites is something that helps you get connected or stay connected with your friends, it also helps you to find out some new friends, And helps you share your lovable memories, and many more. Due to which we get to talk to our long distance friends. Social sites is not just about chatting but is also about discovering things, people upload the cool stuff they come up with to spread it with the World, So that everyone could be aware of it. It is about pages that spread general knowledge, talk about the general topics, etc. which is a very nice thing. But what’s the most trending thing in social sites is tagging your buddy in a meme or else he or she is not you buddy. Or uploading food stories to tease others that look I am eating pizza and you got bhindi my friend. It is about falling in love, and being aware of those who are enemies at your back. Social site is a little world in itself. Love, Hate, Feelings, Trust, Faith, Friendship, Danger, Depression, Jealousy, Happiness, Sadness, Upset, Patient, Knowledge, Awareness, Rights, even education, etc. includes in social sites. You get to learn a lot of life lessons. Social sites is not just about chatting. Let us talk about the different types of social media’s
- Instagram: I myself am a insta addict, and sometimes I don’t understand what is such a big deal in it. Instagram is a site where you can upload your pictures, videos, etc. you can also upload some pictures in your stories which will disappear in 24hrs. You can go live on Instagram. You can chat with people through DM, i.e. Direct Message. You can search anyone on Instagram and can also connect your insta account to your Facebook account and twitter account. You can keep your account private, i.e. only your friends can see your profile, and you can keep your account open, i.e. anyone can follow you or watch your profile.
- Twitter: The name itself is very cute, twitter twitterrrrrr. This is the type of social media where people tweet to others, if you want to share something that means you are tweeting it. You can tweet on memes, to famous celebrities, etc.
- Facebook: Dude a book which includes your identity. Amazing name, amazing concept. This is an amazing social media, where you can share, chat, comment, like, etc. You can find new friends. It is a very popular social media.
- Snapchat: The word itself says all, snap, i.e. a picture. You can chat through a picture, share your daily feed with people you want and then after 24hrs. It will get disappeared. And the most trending thing on snapchat is streak and collecting trophies. You can even send a picture personally, or upload it in your “my story” which will disappear in 24hrs.
- Social: These days kids don’t prefer to go in the outside world and prefer to stay at home due to which there social circle is left no more, but through social media’s they can still be connected with their
- New Friends: Social sites are full of strangers, you never know one is a stranger for you today but on the other day, he or she became your friend, and this is how it works.
- Long-Distanced Friends: Many a times, your closed ones get shifted or something like that, but you don’t need to but your hopes down as you can not only connect with them through phone call but also through social media’s. You can make a video call, chat with them, share the things you want to and many more….
- Business World: Social Media’s are very useful in the world of business, as to these days a company does check the candidates fb profile, etc. to know him or her more. Plus the main head can conduct the interview online through video conferencing, of which the finest example is Skype.
