Case Chase Contest 3 @ SMS Varanasi

A Case Chase Contest 3 was organized at SMS Varanasi campus on September 22, 2017 by CEISD A Centre of Excellence of School of Management Sciences, Varanasi. Students from various courses participated with great vigor and zeal. 31 case studies related to different dimensions of Marketing, Finance, HR, Strategic Management etc. were presented by the participating students. Cases of Blackberry, Tata Nano, Air India, IPL, UID-Aadhar, KFC, LML, Reliance Jio, Starbucks, Idea-Vodaphone Merger etc. were discussed in the forum. The contest was judged by an esteemed panel of jury which included Prof. K. K. Agrawal, Head- Faculty of Commerce (Former Head and Dean-Faculty of Commerce and Management, MGKVP), Prof. H.S. Asthana -Department of Psychology, Banaras Hindu University & Mr.Ashish Kumar Tiwari Head, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Varanasi Chapter. Earlier in his welcome address, Prof. Raj Kumar Singh (Chairperson-CEISD) extended a very welcome to the judges & participants and advocated the importance of entrepreneurship in the todays complex competitive environment. During his addressProf K. K. Agrawalsaid that Case studies provide a means for highlighting and extracting practical principles and methods for shaping and accelerating progress in solving complex real world problems. He also emphasized on the importance of presenters convincing attitude while giving the presentations. He also emphasized on the importance of participation and continuous growth. Later in his speech he also highlighted the importance of Cases in corporate structure. Prof. H.S. Asthanasaid that case studies inform burgeoning theories such as those associated with complex systems engineering where people are considered part of the system to be conceived, developed, fielded, and operated; or extant systems targeted for improvement upgrades. Furthermore he added the importance of R&D and humanistic approach in case solving. Mr. Ashish Kumar Tiwariadded the importance of cases in Corporate Life. These cases are going to help budding managers to tackle real life situation in the corporate. According to him this is the only way to keep acquainted with the corporate strategy making which in turn help the managers to plan things in advance. The results were announced byProf. P. N. Jha (Director, SMS Varanasi). The session was coordinated by Mr. Saurabh Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Professor. Mr. Kartikeya Singh, Co-ordinator MBA-Program proposed the formal vote of thanks to all the participants & judges.
